Back to School Marketing Ideas!

It’s that time again! Back to school sales and promotions are going on, and it’s a good idea to market your business.

We have been finishing up our back to school marketing campaigns and wanted to share some of our brightest ideas with you!

  • Post on social media about your deals. Take a picture of your back to school deals and post them for your followers to see. If they know you have deals, they will come to you! You can even make a fun back to school graphic to share. For example, here is ours for Connecticut Post Mall.

  • Create fun items for kids! We made a checklist for one of our clients to share. Students, as well as parents, like to know they have everything they need for back to school. We also reminded parents of tax free week. Which starts in a few days for Connecticut. GULPlv-b2s-checklist-1

  • Keep it simple and fun. Back to school, after all, is for kids to feel excited about heading back to school. It allows your business to have fun with your designs.

  • Keep up with the trends! Have you made any deals for Pokemon go users? We have! There is also the option of making a personalized Snapchat geotag for your business. If you aren’t familiar with Snapchat here’s a how to you can read.

  • The finishing touch, print your media to show off at your retail locations. We love seeing our work come to life.

Meet the Team: Alexa

At Image, we are always coming up with new ways for businesses to market themselves! One of our Team members, Alexa, is our social media marketing guru. Alexa has been with IMC for over a year, she started on the team as an intern last summer. She goes to Quinnipiac University and is studying Public Relations and Public Relations.

 Alexa

Why did you want to join the IMC team? Last year I really wanted to find an internship where I would be able to learn a lot, and that would challenge me. I didn’t know that I would be joining such an amazing team and getting my  first job in PR!

What is your favorite thing about Public Relations and Social Media? I love that PR works so well with social media. I think that so many people can benefit from using social media every day no matter what type of business they own. It is a great way to show off your business and it’s free! So it’s a win win. I love being on social media and finding out all of the trends. When I tell people that I am on Facebook all day at work, they don’t understand how hard I am working for businesses!

What does your day to day look like? Every day at IMC is different! We have a diverse set of clients and I love working with everyone. Whether its making up some social posts, newsletters, or blogging for a client I am always ready to work. We love to go out and grab lunch from local places, and sometimes we work as a team in the conference room. There are always new things to work on!

If you could be in any city in the world right now where would you be? I would be in Florence probably! It was an amazing experience to travel abroad and as much as I do love CT, I love Italy even more.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I own probably over 50 pairs, but I honestly wear about 10 of them! I love finding them both fashionable and comfy making them perfect for the office! (Which you should checkout our Instagram to see our future Tuesday Shoesday posts!)

Forty Under 40 Recipient

40 under 40Today is a great day! Not many people can say that on Monday mornings sitting at their desk, but for me, it’s the start of what’s going to be a fabulous week!

The February issue of Connecticut Magazine comes out this week and I’m so honored and grateful to have been selected as one of the Forty Under 40 recipients for 2016.

One of the points that was mentioned in the article was that we are adjusting our client focus a bit to work with luxury and lifestyle brands, something that I’ve been passionate about for a while now. However, unfortunately over the last few years, I’ve gotten away from working directly with clients as much, but that’s about to change. This Forty Under 40 recognition has made me realize that I miss meeting with new clients to help them achieve their marketing and personal growth goals.

So the bottom line is that I want to network with new brands, new companies, new clients to see how we can help grow and promote them. Are you a business owner, a marketing VP, or a public relations director? Call, drop a line, or connect with me online – this winter is the start of a great year and I want you to be included!

Marketing Tip Tuesday: Thank you notes

c424f72353a0acee8cef06c3a7491feaSending a thank you note is one of the most important things you can do after meeting with a potential client. Today, most people simply send an email, but have we forgotten the personal touch of snail mail?

You will probably agree that when a client receives a thank you note in the mail it immediately conveys how important they are. It shows more than a formality, it shows someone actually took the time to hand-write it and send it, and these days that is rare.

Below are a few tips that will help in the process.

  • Use professional stationary.
You want to make sure your cards don’t look like a typical Hallmark card. Professional stationary or branded stationary, helps with your brand exposure and also shows your client you are not a newbie.
  • Write genuinely.
When writing a thank you note, go into detail and be specific, but be sure to sound genuine. You are thanking a potential client, so there is no need for added fluff.
  • Write as neatly as possible.
This may sound a bit trivial, but messy handwriting can show you were either too rushed or they were not important enough. We suggest you take your time and write the note to the best of your ability.
  • Write the address on the envelope.
It’s so easy to print labels, but if you’re taking the time to write the letter, take a minute more and write the address. It’s just another special little touch.
  • Don’t wait.
Send your note out within a week, or your gesture won’t be fresh in the clients mind.

Believe us when we say a little thank you note goes a long way!

4 Ways to Improve Your Content Marketing

BrandTraditional marketing is changing, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to effectively market your brand. In order to do that successfully, you need to know where the audience is and how to speak to them.

We know the majority of the audience has gone social and we know content marketing has morphed into the official language for brand communication. So here are a few content marketing tips that can be helpful when executed correctly.

1.  Know your brand

Your brand is the heart and soul of your company, and in order for the audience to understand who you are, you have to understand yourself first. When an audience sees your work, they should know what you stand for. For example, Martha Stewart is seen by her audience as a home expert. The media she posts relates to her brand because she consistently shares recipes, home improvement ideas, and DIY projects. People relate to her brand because it has a strong and clear stance. To do this, give your audience a focus on what you stand for and effectively continue with this same stance in all of your media. When an audience is well educated on who you are, they are able to believe in your brand and look at you as the brand expert. If there is not enough information circulating about your brand, then your audience will be just as lost as you are.

2. Keep them interested

Providing your audience with information they yearn for will keep them informed, interested and most importantly, satisfied. A strong title and introduction are crucial to keeping your readers hooked. The introduction should explain why you are writing about this topic, as well as demonstrate a strong knowledge on the information. 57% of marketers report custom content was their top marketing priority for 2014 (source: http://www.altimetergroup.com) so make sure you are able to write in your own style with a strong voice. If the article does not sound like you or your brand, the audience won’t be able to connect with it. If there is too much fluff in your words, you won’t be taken seriously. There are a lot of little things to think about when writing, but when looking over your post think about these three questions: is this our brand’s voice? Will my content be interesting to my audience? Is the article original?

3. Be consistent and post regularly

You want your audience to know your brand and to read your content, but it’s not useful unless you are consistent with your marketing. The more information being posted about your brand, the more likely your audience will see it. If you are sporadic with your posts, then they will be sporadic with reaching your whole audience. Simple things can connect people to your brand and help them stay interested. Come up with weekly posts that you can schedule on your social media sites that link to your website, blog or correlating site. According to the Huffington Post Tech “Tweets that include links are 86 percent more likely to be retweeted.” The more you reach out to your audience, the better chance you have for them to reach out for you.

4. Keep up with trends and come up with new ideas

Keep your marketing strategies fresh and trendy. Do your research so you know what the newest content marketing strategies are and to see what your competitors are doing. If it’s working for them, make your own twist and showcase your brand, in your way.
